It's the beginning of March and I'm finally getting around to the twins' First Day of School!
I'm an inspirational scrapper and this sketch was perfect for this memorable moment. When pictures, paper and layouts all come together to create a layout I love, it's usually one of my favorites.
See my journaling? I'm trying and it's getting easier. With 3 kids I'm not going to remember all the details.
Paper, ribbon and embellishments all layer on the left to draw your eye to the picture.
My embellishments usually come last as I'm putting the layout together. For "First Day" I was thinking school house or apple and then I realized an Owl would be perfect. I bought this measurement ribbon at a CK convention ages ago and I love it so much I haven't used it, till now!
The sketch inspired me to add to the background paper using stamps. The texture and star stamps are from CTMH. I used Distress ink (Vintage Photo & Broken China). Second impression stamping gives the images a faint impression and doesn't distract from the picture and the embellishments.
Not only do I love this sketch but I actually finished it in time to enter at Back Porch Memories Guest Design Team Contest!
