An Appetizer or Two! Baked Brie and Stuffed Mushrooms

I was so excited to cook for this Dinner Party. After reading "do's & don'ts" and "tips for throwing a dinner party" I realize I took a risk in cooking untried recipes, but they were from trusted sources and I had enough confidence in the recipes and my abilities that I went for it!


I chose to have 2 apps and have them ready for when the guests arrived for a relaxed and casual atmosphere while I cooked the main course.

Brie with Apricot Jam in a Crescent Roll

Roll out an 8oz can of Crescent Rolls into one crust. I'll admit this part was a little tricky and made me doubt the whole process. Never fear it will work out. At this point make sure your dough is on the sheet or dish that you're going to cook it in.

Spread your favorite preserves in the center of the dough. I used Apricot, but any of your favorites should work. Place a 6 oz wheel of Brie on the preserves. I actually bought my Brie at Costco, it was a little bigger but worked just as well, and hey more Brie for me! Spread more preserves on the top of the Brie.

Gently wrap the Crescent dough up and over the Brie and seal it all up.
Bake in the oven following the Crescent Roll package directions for temp and time. I did check on mine and cooked longer. Not sure if this was because I had a bigger wheel of cheese.

No spread on your favorite crackers or bread and eat with apple slices and grapes.

Don't stress if it doesn't look pretty, your guests will soon be digging into it and sighing over it's yummy goodness. That is if you share it with them!

I love watching the Barefoot Contessa and when I saw her make these Stuffed Mushrooms I knew it was the perfect app for this dinner party!

My guests must have agreed because I ate one and the next time I looked over they were all gone!
